Blog Series Part 1: How to Edit Digital Product Templates in Canva (Tips 1–5)

1. How to Customize Text (Fonts, Colors & Sizes)
Customizing text in Canva is a simple yet powerful way to make your templates match your brand. Click on the text box you want to update. Then, use the toolbar at the top to select a new font, adjust the size, change the color, or tweak the spacing. If you have brand colors, enter the hex code to stay consistent. This helps your product look polished and personalized.
2. How to Change Photos or Upload Your Own Images
Images tell your story. To change a photo, simply click on the current image and press delete. Then, click on the "Uploads" tab on the left to drag in your own photos—or choose from Canva's free library. Once uploaded, just drag and drop your new image into place. This tip is especially useful for graduation programs, planners, or business cards.
3. How to Replace Backgrounds or Add a New One
Your background sets the tone. To update it, click on the background and delete or change the color using the toolbar. To add a new one, go to the "Photos" or "Elements" tab and search for a style you like. Drag the image onto your page, and Canva will automatically set it as the background. You can also right-click and choose "Set Image as Background."
4. How to Edit or Resize Elements (Lines, Shapes, Icons)
Elements add design flair. To resize a shape or icon, click it and use the handles to adjust size or rotate. Use the toolbar to change the color or layer position. For clean layouts, use Canva’s position tools to align elements precisely. This is great for flyers, programs, or workbooks.
5. How to Add or Delete Pages
Need more space? Add pages by clicking the "+ Add Page" button at the bottom. To delete, use the trash icon. For templates with similar layouts, right-click and select "Duplicate Page." This is perfect when working on multi-page documents like journals, booklets, or digital planners.
